Todd Hartman
Communications Director
As Communications Director, Todd works with the media, internal staff, sister agencies, specialty groups and the public to promote and explain the work of the Department and its divisions to a variety of audiences through the Internet, broadcast, print and other platforms.

Todd previously conducted media work for the Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) in Colorado. Prior to 2009, Todd spent 24 years in daily print journalism at four newspapers, much of that time specializing in environmental and energy coverage. He was recognized with more than 10 national awards for reporting projects, including several related to energy and water issues in the West.

Todd received a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Colorado in 1990, and later spent an academic fellowship year studying environmental issues, also at CU. Todd lives in Thornton with wife Sherry and two sons, as well as a backpacking border collie, Houdini.
